What is a sender, address, and domain?

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

sender is a person or script that sends an email to you.

An address is the email address a sender uses to send you this email. Oftentimes, you'll see this next to "From" in your email client, but bulkmailers are crafty and may spoof this address (by using the email address of a family member or friend whose address book has been phished, hacked, or compromised). Bulc Club scours the message headers for the sender's original email address to ensure we are rating and blocking the correct address.

domain is the the mail server a sender uses to send you this email. Oftentimes, you'll see this after the "@" symbol in a sender's email address, but bulkmailers may also spoof the domain (by using a fake domain or the domain of a family member or friend whose address book has been phished, hacked, or compromised). As with the address, Bulc Club scours the message headers for the sender's original mail server domain to ensure we are rating and blocking the correct domain.

Because of spoofing, a sender's email address and domain may be different in your Bulc Club Member Console.
